Dr. R.K. RAGHAVAN – Adviser to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)/ (Former Director, Central Bureau of Investigation, Current Chairman, Special Investigation Team, Gujarat)
Dr. R.K. Raghavan is a Master of Arts (1962) and a Ph.D. (1985) in Political Science from India. He also holds a Master’s in Criminal Justice from the Temple University (1991), Philadelphia (USA). He was a Visiting Fellow at the Rutgers University (1994), Newark and the Harvard Law School (2001), Boston. Joining the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1963 he rose to be Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in January 1999 and laid down office in April 2001. In this assignment he was head of Interpol in India. He also set up India’s first cybercrime investigation cell.
He is the recipient of the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. He has travelled widely all over the world to pursue criminal investigation and present academic papers at conferences. During his several visits to the US, he lectured at Yale, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard, MIT, University of Pennsylvania, SUNY, Albany and University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. R.K. Raghavan is presently also Adviser to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software company, and takes care of its global security issues.
